Where has the Summer gone? Seriously, it was just Memorial Day, and now, we are gearing up for Labor Day? Stop. I’m definitly not ready for that. With so little time left in our Summer break, there certainly is no better way to celebrate than pretty beauty choices full of essential oils and refreshing face mists, soft colors, and bold scents, and of course, a stiff cocktail. I plan on soaking up as much of what’s left of Summer as possible… how about you? I’m keeping my nails painted with summery colors, hair messy with beach waves, skin (faux) tanned, beach body intact, tequila flowing, and exotic fruits stocked. A bit much? I think not.
With Summer being my favorite season (obvi), I consider myself an expert on “survival”. Yes. Summer Survival. For me it starts with health and beauty and typically ends with a Sunday Funday, house cocktail made with tequila and whatever is in season.
Now before we pour the tequila, let’s get down to the basics of health and beauty, starting with refreshing face mists that are oh so good for your skin, keeping you hydrated, smelling fresh, and essential oils (which I am falling inlove with).
SKIN SOOTHING FACE AND BODY MIST
Mix 3 Tablespoons of aloe very (buy organic, pure aloe vera from your local health food store)
1/2 of a lime, juiced
Put into a spritz bottle. Keep one in your beach bag, your bathroom, your purse, your car…..
Aloe Vera is AMAZING for the skin. It treats sunburn, acts as a moisturizer, treats acne, fights aging, and reduces the visibility of stretch marks when used topically. If you take a shot of it it can aids in digestion, and is nutrient rich for good health.
Lime juice also has wonderful properties for your skin. It treats acne and dark spots, has anti-aging properties, removes dead skin, and also makes your skin glow!
Distilled water is extremely purifying, making your skin as fresh as can be!
SANDALWOOD ESSENTIAL OIL
Sandalwood has been used in Ayurveda for some time and can be used for effective skincare such as dry, cracked, and/or chapped skin, rashes and acne! Not to mention it’s suitable for all skin types and isn’t toxic. Woohoo.
You can add a few drops to your all natural, unscented face/body creams and body oil along with rose oil for an extra boost
Sandalwood Face Mist
5-10 drops of Sandalwood
5-10 drops of Rose Oil
2 cups of boiling water
Combine all ingredients together, let cool and put in spritz bottles!
Rosewater not only SMELLS AMAZE, but it has numerous benefits for your skin. It maintains your skin’s pH balance, fights acne, dermatitis, and eczema, hydrates, moiturizes and smooths out the skin, heals scars and cuts, calms the skin, is anti-bacterial, eases stress and anxiety, tones the skin, is full of antioxidants which strengthens skin cells and regenerates skin tissue, helps recover your hair quality, AND revitalizes aging skin, preventing fine lines and wrinkles. Go ahead, head to the store and get some now.

Pretty Fingers and Toes
I do my own nails (95 percent of the time) because I am A.D.D./ Bi-polar when it comes to nail color. I probably paint my nails 3-5 times a week. Yeah, that happens. It’s my therapy, or something.
Anyways, this week I found a killer sale on ESSIE nail polish, buy three get the fourth free! So of course, I had to get four.
(In order from left to right: Ballet Slippers, Gel Top Coat, Turquiose & Caicos, Bahama Mama)
Let me just say, these are my favorite colors for this season, and that Gel Topcoat is kick-ass.
Ballet Slippers shows up exactly like the title suggests; perfect, ballerina slippers. It compliments your tan and goes with any polish you choose for your toes.
Bahama Mama reminds me of RiRi and adds a little spice to your life. You can’t help but put on your best RiRi thug face and sing “Bitch Better Have My Money”. I chose thise one for my toes.
Turquoise & Caicos screams vacation. I love it for an accent nail, full fingernail color, or toe color. It works so well for all three, and will definitly have you feeling ready for Holiday.

Now the sad part of the story. Accepting Summer is almost over. With a few months of break, some of us may be excited to get back into the swing of things, be a BOSS BABE, and conquer the world. I am definitly one of those. Be a boss lady? Hell yes. Write down your goals everyday, even if they are repetative. Say them to your self and don’t forget to become a believer for self affirmation. You gotta show yourself some love. Don’t settle for anything less than what you really want. What you put into the Universe, you will surely get out of it!
