Beginning as a hobby and turning into an incredible skill of knitting bathroom tissue into fashion pieces (for Canada’s Breast Cancer Foundation), Dylan Uscher a Toronto based fashion designer and creator to Dylanium Knits, is the up and coming talent to watch in this industry.
A “self proclaimed nerd” this smarty pants is originally from the east coast, but moved to Toronto to attend The University of Toronto to pursue his Master’s in linguistics.
Fashion was not what Dylan intended to pursue initially–here’s the reason I dig this designer so much– he was fired from his job just a few days after beginning to work for the company; he bawled his way home talking to his mom, took a nap and woke up and basically said, “I have nothing to lose, let’s do this!” And there you have it- a full time fashion career began.
For inspiration he pulls from his community, the night dwellers and materials and people that don’t fit the “normal” cut- another reason to love this guy.
His resume includes: MAC Cosmetics, Greta Constantine and Phillip Sparks.
Dylan Uscher is not just a fashion designer, but an inspiration: somebody who embraces ‘different’, works hard and believes anything is possible no matter the bumps in the road we encounter.
