“We are on Caribbean time. You can’t rush a good thing you know, like good loving, it takes time and care.”- Eva’s Caribbean Kitchen
Chef and Owner Eva Madray uses authentic recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation, prepping early in the day, making each sauce, spice and dish from scratch bringing you the most fresh and delicious Caribbean food on the West Coast. Tucked away behind a colorful wall and greenery, it is easy to miss this place if you are just driving by; when you walk around the front wall up you will know you are in the right spot with island music that is playing and colorful lights that decorate the patio. Their motto is, “We are on Caribbean time. You can’t rush a good thing you know, like good loving, it takes time and care.” So sit outside on the patio and leave your worries at home.
Being a Caribbean joint, their rum selection is impressive with different options from all over the world. Start out with their Rum Punch a sweet and spiced drink with cloves, cinnamon and ginger garnished with a huge slice of mango or the Brown Suga Martini made with rum and lime juice in a glass rimmed with cinnamon (or both) to ease your way into rum drinking (especially if rum is not your drink of choice). They will show you how delicious rum is when you are drinking the simple flavors of the islands. Start off with the Cajun Prawns appetizer prepared with black tiger shrimp marinated in lime garlic and chili, then dredged in Cajun spices and seared in a black skillet served with a grilled pineapple, roasted pepper and passion fruit relish. It’s spicy, but worth the burn as they say! Next get the Blackened Salmon dredged in a house Cajun Spice blend that is seared in a black French skillet and oven roasted, served with passion fruit, mango, grilled pineapple and pepper relish, or the Pineapple Glazed Pork Loin marinated in dark Puerto Rican rum, garlic and some other secret stuff then grilled and served with garlic mashed potatoes and pineapple chutney; don’t forget a side of plantains! If you are feeling really ambitious, finish the night with a rum flight of your choosing and the Banana Passion Flambé. Enter Food Coma.
