Oil pulling dates back thousands of years as an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique; it may also be referred to as “kavala” or “gundusha”. It involves swishing vegetable based oil around your mouth on an empty stomach for 15-20 minutes.

Let’s talk about the oil
Coconut oil has been the most popular oil to be used due to its incredible antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Although you can use other vegetable based oils, coconut oil will give you the greatest benefits from oil pulling. The healthiest cultures on our planet consume a ton of coconut, and keep it a main diet staple. When you swish this oil around your mouth, it is pulling all of the bacteria from your teeth, tongue, gums, cheeks….everywhere!
Our mouths are incredibly filthy, and it’s usually where any illness begins. By oil pulling once a day, you are literally detoxifying your body, which gives you more energy, gets rid of your headaches, clears your sinuses, cures those hangovers from having too much fun, and makes you look good. Here’s what you do…
Wake up each morning, and while you are getting coffee ready, checking emails, or instagramming, grab a tablespoon of coconut oil and plop it in your mouth.
If it is colder in your home, the oil will be in solid form.
Once it is inside of your mouth, it will begin to melt. Don’t get too weirded out by the texture; it will pass.
Gently swish it around your mouth, through your teeth, around your tongue passed the cheeks…
The oil will begin to gain in mass, because of it mixing with your saliva.

When your 15-20 minutes are up, spit that oil in the GARBAGE CAN. If you spit it in your sink, it can damage your pipes- don’t do that.
Rinse your mouth out and brush normally.
